Reinventing Pratt: Urbanism In a New Key

Aerial image of Pratt City after tornado damage

Spring 2014 Master of Landscape Studio focused on Pratt City, a small neighborhood in North West Birmingham. The city sponsored the studio because they were looking for fresh approaches to develop this neighborhood, post-tornado.

The studio work was completed last semester, but a group of four students continued to work with Prof. Jacqueline Margetts to compile the work into a book and a video. The book captures student work, project-by-project, while the video focuses on the ideas generated. The book is designed for city officials, while the video's primary function is to inspire enthusiasm and generate talking points within the community. The creation of the video was a big leap for these students; they had done nothing like this before.

The video  "Reinventing Pratt: Urbanism In a New Key"  is now complete. The book is also complete and is currently being printed.
