Jack Williams Invited to Beijing to LectureJack Williams, Professor Emeritus of Landscape Architecture, was invited to lecture at Beijing Forestry University in October as part of the University's celebration of its 60th anniversary. Professor Williams and Beijing Forestry University's faculty celebrated twenty years of friendship between the two universities Beijing Forestry University's School of Landscape Architecture is China's oldest and largest landscape architecture program and offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees in planning, urban design and landscape architecture.

Professor Williams' lecture, entitled "Easy off, Easy on," was about his forthcoming book of the same title (University of Virginia Press). He joined landscape architects from France, Japan and the United States in a discussion of landscape architecture in contemporary China.

Jack Williams Invited to Beijing to LectureWhile in Beijing, Jack Williams met with prominent alumni of Auburn University's landscape architecture program, Cao Xi and Han Bai. Han Bai is principal of her own firm in Beijing named "Auburn Associates" after her alma mater.

Li Xiong, affectionately known as "Bear," is now the Dean of the School of Landscape Architecture, overseeing 3000 undergraduates and 780 graduate students. Bear was a visiting Scholar with APLA's Landscape Architecture program during the academic year 1995-96 and wrote his doctoral thesis on America's national parks.
